This epigraphic corpus, a product of the long-standing research of the Northern Greece Programme of the Section of Greek and Roman Antiquity of the IHR/NHRF, and its Archive of Inscriptions from Macedonia, collects all the Greek and Latin inscriptions from the Macedonian district stretching between Mt. Bermion and the Axios river, known as the Third Meris, with the exception of the inscriptions of Beroia and its territory (published by the Programme in 1998 and 2000 respectively) and of Pieria.
With the comprehensive publication of 632 inscriptions of an area comprising, among other cities, the two Macedonian capitals, a desideratum of international research is finally fulfilled. Through the ancient texts, their commentary and the introductory chapters on the cities covered by the volume, the geography, history, political and social structures, cult life, law, economy, language and culture of the cradle of the Macedonian kingdom from the late 5th c. BC to the 6th c. AD are eloquently illustrated.
