Book Description

This is the third volume in the “Island Issues” series published by the Institute of Historical Research of the National Hellenic Research Foundation in collaboration with the South Aegean Region. It is dedicated to Bourgo of Naxos, one the oldest neighborhoods in Hora. The first essay presents the historical background of Bourgo, which is situated at the North side of the castle, from the 14^th up to the 19^th century. The second essay presents the topography of Bourgo, its spatial development and the evolution of its urban design. The third essay focuses on the heraldic monuments and the family crests found in Bourgo and Hora. The book is complemented with pictures, and various illustrations, of interest not only to the reader but also to the visitor exploring Hora, Naxos.
