Ali Pasha Tepelenli, the legendary Pasha of Ioannina (c. 1750-1822) is a controversial yet indisputably major figure of Modern Greek history, who is of as much interest for the history of the fading Ottoman Empire as he is for the re-emerging national history of Albania.  Ali Pasha’s personal archive, or rather the part that survived through labyrinthine and partially untraceable paths is kept today in the Gennadius Library in Athens  (1,500 documents). The present edition publishes the archive in its entirety: the volumes provide a faithful transcription of the documents and systematic annotation as well as indexes and glossaries. With this monumental edition the Greek historiography on Ali Pasha acquired a reference point and offers a new basis for confirming the narrative sources.
