WEBSITE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE – SECURITY OF TRANSACTIONS

Welcome to the electronic bookstore website of the Institute of Historical Research of the National Hellenic Research Foundation (NHRF), history-bookstore.eie.gr. If you continue to use this website, you are agreeing to comply with the following terms, which you should read carefully.

You are free to use the website history-bookstore.eie.gr according to the Law and fair practice. The website history-bookstore.eie.gr does not correct or intervene in the data you are transferring. It is governed by the Greek and International Law and, therefore, you are agreeing that when using the website, you do not have the intention of violating the Law.

Your name, your postal or delivery address, telephone number and e-mail are required for your registration in or connection with history-bookstore.eie.gr. This information is absolutely confidential. history-bookstore.eie.gr reserves the right to use these data to send newsletters about new products or offers to customers or registered users of the e-shop.

 

1. Security of Transactions

The Institute of Historical Research acknowledges the importance of the security of personal data and electronic transactions and has taken all necessary measures, using the most updated and spearhead methods, to ensure the best possible security for the transactions. Information related to the users’ personal data are guaranteed as classified.   history-bookstore.eie.gr uses the SSL protocol, with 128-bit encryption (the strongest to date) for secure online commercial transactions. All your personal data are encrypted so that they cannot be accessible or modified when transferred over the Internet.

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) protocol is currently the most widely deployed data encryption method for the Internet for the certification of websites for internet users and the safe transmission of data between internet users and web servers. An encrypted SSL communication requires all the data sent by a client to a server to be encrypted by the sending software and decrypted by the acceptance software, protecting, thus, personal data when transferred. Furthermore, the information sent using the SSL protocol are protected by a mechanism that automatically verifies if the data have been modified during their transfer.

All payments made using the card are processed through the electronic payment platform of “Alpha e-Commerce” of Alpha Bank and uses TLS 1.2 encryption protocol encryption with 128-bit (Secure Sockets Layer – SSL). Encryption is a way of coding the information until it reaches its recipient, who will be able to decode it using the appropriate key. It is noted that history-bookstore.eie.gr does not collect or store in any way your card details.

 

2. Orders

Orders are received in writing via the internet by filling in and submitting the relevant Order Form, found at history-bookstore.eie.gr. Your order is considered “accepted” when you receive information about the order status. Information on the order status is sent via e-mail to the contact electronic address registered by the user. During the processing of each registered order, the availability of the ordered products is confirmed. Should the availability or time of delivery differ from the one written on the product page, you shall be accordingly informed. The prices of the various products included in the website pages include VAT.

The prices of the e-shop products can change at any given time without warning. A specific product has a different price from the one at the NHRF bookshop, if bought via the e-shop. history-bookstore.eie.gr does not bear any responsibility and does not cover differences in prices of products bought from the bookshop of the NHRF if the customer realizes later that the e-shop has a lower price or vice versa.

 

3. Method of payment

The methods of payment available at history-bookstore.eie.gr are the following:

(a) Through credit, debit and prepaid cards: Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express, Diners Club.

(b) Using Masterpass digital wallet.

(c) Collect on Delivery. In case of collecting on delivery, you pay the courier company when your order is delivered.

 

4. Dispatch and delivery

(a) Dispatch in Greece. Orders are dispatched in Greece via a courier company to the address written in the Order Form. The delivery takes place within 3-4 working days from receiving the order, as per article 2, which means from the updating of the order status via e-mail. If the destination is an island and difficult-to-reach areas, the period of delivery can be up to 5-6 working days.

(b) Dispatch abroad. Orders are dispatched abroad via a courier company. The delivery takes place within 6-8 days in Europe and other countries the delivery period can be up to 9-11 days.

(c) Receiving from the National Hellenic Research Institute. If you have chosen to take your order from the National Hellenic Research Institute bookshop, you will be contacted by phone when your order is ready.

 

5. Cancellations of Orders

You can cancel your order at any phase before it is completed, by calling +302107273942 or by sending an e-mail at history-bookstore@eie.gr. Depending on the status of your order, we will inform you about the choices at your disposal.

 

6. Force Majeure

The Institute of Historical Research/ NHRF does not bear any responsibility for delays in the delivery of products due to incidents that cannot be attributed to its liability or are due to force majeure. In such cases, the Institute of Historical Research of the NHRF shall be entitled to an extension of the delivery time of the order. Indicative orders of such incidents can be: strikes, terrorist actions, war, problems of suppliers/ transportation and/or in the production, fluctuations in foreign exchange, government or legislative acts and natural disasters. If such incidents last more than 2 months, this Agreement can be terminated by any of the contracting parties without compensation.

 

7. Returns

You can return the products you have bought from history-bookstore.eie.gr, without any penalty, if you find a real defect. The product must be returned within 15 days from the acceptance date and necessarily be accompanied by a copy of the receipt. To avoid any discomfort, it is good to carefully check, upon the delivery of your order, the state of the purchased products, the integrity of the packaging, to see if there are any obvious defects.

If you wish to return the products purchased from our e-shop, you have to send us an e-mail to history-bookstore@eie.gr, writing in the subject: “Application for Product Return”, mentioning date/ number of purchase receipt and the reason for the return, within 15 days, as mentioned above. Provided you get from history-bookstore.eie.gr a written return approval (via e-mail) and instructions on the way of return, the address to send the products to be returned is: History Bookstore, National Hellenic Research Institute, 48, Vasileos Konstantinou Avenue, Athens 11635. If we are responsible for the defect, the dispatch costs are borne by history-bookstore.eie.gr.

The provisions of the Civil Code apply in case of defects or lack of agreed properties of the purchased goods. For a property to be considered agreed, it must be certified as such in writing by both parties.

Should you decide to return products, depending on the way you chose to pay for you order, your money shall be returned within 30 days from the date of receiving the products.

This Agreement does not affect any of the consumers’ rights stipulated in the Law.

 

8. Terms of use of the website history-bookstore.eie.gr

This website exclusively belongs to the Institute of Historical Research of the NHRF. This Agreement exclusively covers any sale of products via the website history-bookstore.eie.gr. Any deviations from this Agreement must be confirmed by the Institute of Historical Research of the NHRF. Any other Terms and Conditions are explicitly excluded. A user making use of the e-shop services is deemed to consent and unreservedly accept the terms set out herein, without any exception. If a user does not agree with these terms and conditions should abstain from using the e-shop and any transaction via it.

Dispatch of your order means acceptance of this Agreement and all of its terms.

 

9. Amendment of the terms herein

history-bookstore.eie.gr reserves the right to amend or renew the terms and conditions of the transactions. The amendment or renewal shall enter into force when this text is accordingly updated for any change.

If any part of this Agreement is proved null and void or inapplicable with a court judgment, the rest of the Agreement shall still be valid. history-bookstore.eie.gr can conclude an agreement for the assignment of its obligations to an appropriate third party. The users are not entitled to concede or transfer their rights or obligations to third parties. All notifications must be in writing (hand written, via e-mail, fax or first class postal letter, which shall be considered delivered 48 hours after being sent).

 

10. Applicable Law – Jurisdiction

This Agreement shall be governed by the European ad Greek Law, especially the provisions regulating matters related to e-commerce, sales from a distance and consumers’ protection, and shall belong to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Athens.

 

11. Intellectual Rights

This website includes material –trademarks and other content– belonging to the Institute of Historical Research of the NHRF and is protected by Law. All contents of the website history-bookstore.eie.gr (including texts, graphs, pictures, photos and software) comprise intellectual property of the Institute of Historical Research of the NHRF and are protected by the Greek and International Law. It is forbidden to copy, reproduce and relay the material, without the written permission of the Institute of Historical Research of the National Hellenic Research Institute. Its presence in the website should not be taken in any way as transfer or concession of license or the right to use them.

 

12. Applicable Law

This website has been created and controlled by the Institute of Historical Research of the NHRF and the Greek Law shall guide the use of the website and its interpretation. If you choose to have access to our website, history-bookstore.eie.gr, from another country, you bear the responsibility of observing the Laws of said country.

The above terms constitute full agreement with the Institute of Historical Research of the NHRF, which has the right to make changes in the content of the website and the terms mentioned above without any warning.
