Book Description
The biographies of remarkable, ‘great men’ —in fewer cases women— have been a traditional, distinct and quite popular branch of historical narration which stresses the importance of one person in the course of events. Biographers have formulated a constellation parallel to the world of those individuals who become the subject of biographies by exploring all the different perceptions of their personalities. These issues inspired the ‘Ermoupoli Seminars’: a scientific meeting among friends and colleagues on the island of Syros in the summer of 2010. The outcome of the ‘Ermoupoli Seminars’ is presented in this volume including essays by Vasilis Panayiotopoulos, Evdokia Olympitou, Paschalis Kitromilides, Sofia Matthaiou, Dimitris Dimitropoulos, Nikos Theotokas, Christos Loukos, Panayiotis Michailaris, Dionysis Tzakis, Ourania Polykandrioti, Maria Christina Chatziioanou, Maria Damilakou, Katerina Dede, Spyros Draenas.
