Book Description

The book by Eftychia Liata, a historical rather than numismatic study of coin circulation in Greek territories under Venetian and Ottoman rule from the mid-fifteenth century to the first decades of the nineteenth, is now available in a second, revised and corrected edition, thirty years after the first. Over this extended period, and until approximately 2020, the author continued to gather material relevant to the subject. The additional data derives, on the one hand, from the subsequent scholarly literature and, on the other, from the systematic excerpting of published primary sources, supplemented by the incidental retrieval of data from unpublished archival sources. The tables of monetary equivalences, in particular, have been substantially expanded and corrected and have been given a more functional format.

In this second expanded edition the layout, structure and characteristic features of the first edition have been preserved.
